OCSA Vehicle Disclosure Standard · Draft for consultation

What a fully disclosed car prize looks like

This is a specimen listing. The operator and vehicle are fictional, and every figure is illustrative. On the left is what a player would see. On the right, in italics, OCSA explains why each item is there. Everything shown can be published without creating a security risk for the operator or the winner.

What we deliberately leave out

These details add nothing a player needs, and each creates a real risk.

  • Full VIN (chassis number). Used to clone vehicle identities and order duplicate keys.
  • V5C document reference number. Allows the vehicle to be taxed and the keeper changed online.
  • Where the car is kept. No addresses, recognisable driveways or showroom locations in photos before the draw.
  • Previous keepers’ names or addresses. Personal data, and irrelevant to the player.
  • Security and tracker details. Make, model or fitting location of trackers and immobilisers.
  • The winner’s address or delivery date. Publish the winner’s first name and town only, with their consent.

Specimen listing prepared by the Online Competition Standards Authority. Example Competitions Ltd is fictional and the vehicle data is illustrative. The specimen registration contains the letter Q, which DVLA does not issue in current-style registrations, so it cannot belong to a real car. The OCSA Vehicle Disclosure Standard is a draft, and we welcome comments from operators and players at info@ocsa.org.uk.
